Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, the traditional ruler of Orile Ifo, was detained after being arraigned before the Ifo Magistrate Court and is now being held in an Ilaro, Ogun State correctional facility.
The monarch, accused of assault, was denied immediate release after failing to meet the bail conditions set by the court.
A three-count charge brought against him by the Nigeria Police Force made his appearance in court on Tuesday.
The charges include conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

Areola Abraham, an elderly chief in his community, is alleged to be the monarch verbally and physically assaulting her in a widely circulated video.
In the disturbing video, which went viral on social media platforms, the suspended traditional ruler is seen berating Abraham, accusing him of conspiracy and threatening him with dire consequences.
The traditional ruler entered a not-guilty plea during the trial.
The presiding magistrate set bail at a substantial sum of $5 million in spite of his plea, which included stringent requirements for two sureties who must also deposit $5 million.
However, as of the time of reporting, the monarch was unable to fulfil these bail conditions, resulting in his remand at the correctional facility in Ilaro.
