Trump’s supporters claim that his strategy has worked in the past to sway foreigners’ favors by leveraging the US economy.
China has responded to Trump’s additional tariffs by implementing its own measures that are scheduled to go into effect on Monday.
That could allow the two biggest economies of the world to resume a trade war.
