The former Coronation Street star has spoken out about her family life and the devastating reality that having two children with a devastating diagnosis prevents them from having more children.

Victoria Ekanoye, best known for her role as Angie Appleton on Coronation Street in 2018 and 2019, has opened up about the devastating reality of not being able to have more children due to her battle with breast cancer and a subsequent womb operation.

The 43-year-old actress had a double mastectomy shortly after receiving a diagnosis of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), a type of breast cancer, with her partner Jonny Lomas, who is also the mother of four-year-old son Theo. Although she is now fully recovered, the fertility treatment she received has been effective.

Victoria, who also lives with sickle cell disease, reflected on the tough years following her cancer diagnosis, explaining how Theo became a beacon of hope for her family.

Due to her treatment for breast cancer, Victoria revealed that she is unable to have any children.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror at the Mariposa Ball, she reflects on her life, saying: “I’m great, I’m great. I’m busy. My son – who was, gosh, he wasn’t even one when I had my double mastectomy, but he’s four now, going on 14. Running us ragged and just the most incredible little boy in all.”

The former Corrie star described how her son gave her the strength to endure the most agonizing times. He was the pillar of strength and hope we needed when we were going through hardship. We’re just thriving as a family, and it’s wonderful to watch him.

Victoria revealed that expanding her family is no longer an option because of the ovary-suppressing medication she had to take following her breast cancer treatment, despite the frequently asked question by fans about it.

From 2018 to 2019, Victoria toured with Angie Appleton in Corrie.

“No, I’m always asked this question by people,” I’m sorry. Unfortunately, my ovaries were turned off by the medication I had to take from the back of breast cancer.

She is now aware that getting pregnant is incredibly challenging because of her sickle cell disorder and the treatment. Victoria continued, “I’m 43 now, and I always have to consider that I also have sickle cell.” And, should I say, my fertility rate is inconvenient for us.

Victoria embraces the life she has with Theo and Jonny and chooses to cherish every moment with her family rather than focusing on what she can’t have.

She continues, “We’re happy and appreciative that Theo exists.” I’m not interested in making up it or putting anything at risk. My partner and I are the same age, and we only want to make the most of our family.

Despite the difficulties, Victoria continues to work on challenging projects. “Oh, yes! I’m actually about to begin filming a new series called Falcon in Malta, which will be a TV adaptation of The Da Vinci Code, in the summer or early summer.

Theo, Victoria’s son, and her partner already have one.

She also made an appearance in a possible return to the theater as a performer who is deeply in love with the stage.

“I miss the stage,” I said. I started there, exactly. In The Lion King, I started. So there’s always a part of me that enjoys performing live in front of an audience. Therefore, I don’t know, “watch this space”!
