Fans have been left speechless after learning about Jonathan Howard’s famous wife and how he has been causing chaos as Carl Webster in Weatherfield.
Coronation Street’s new face, Jonathan Howard, who portrays Carl Webster in the popular soap, has a famous wife that fans are just beginning to recognise. The 38 year old actor recently made his debut on the cobbles, causing quite a stir as his character surprised his brother Kevin (played by Michael Le Vell).
Carl’s relentless flirting with Kevin’s wife Abi Webster ( Sally Carman ) has certainly turned heads. However, off-screen, Jonathan is happily married to TV and film star Elodie Yung, 44, with whom he shares a six year old daughter.
Elodie, a French actress, is well known for her roles as Thony De La Rosa in Fox’s The Cleaning Lady and Elektra Natchios in Daredevil’s second season and The Defenders miniseries. She went on to become famous with the French television program La Vie Devant Nous before resuming law school.
She later relocated to England to pursue her acting career, taking the lead role in the acclaimed movie The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Due to her work commitments, Jonathan and Elodie recently shared details of their romantic life.
Jonathan stated in a statement to Metro that his wife has spent the last few years working on a TV show there. There, we have fun living there. We never imagined we would live in the United States, but my wife and I enjoy it there. Our current mode of existence is that.
Jonathan, who plays Carl in the show, has recently moved back to the UK, leaving his wife Elodie and their daughter in the States. He shared: “I left the north of England 20 years ago, when I was 20. I went to do Dream Team in London then I went to drama school for three years.”
I moved to America after leaving drama school, managed to work there, and have spent the last ten years living there with my wife and daughter. Being away from them is the only difficult part, but being back in the north of England is also a real gift.
In the past decade, Jonathan has worked alongside big names like Brad Pitt, Chris Hemsworth and Anthony Hopkins, but he considers landing a role in Corrie as his greatest achievement.

He told The Mirror : “Being in Coronation Street is just as big a thrill as being in a Hollywood film or an American TV series. It’s all the same, everyone’s telling stories, whether it’s a big $200m movie or a soap like Corrie. As a Lancashire lad born and raised, the dream was to be in Coronation Street – that was the ceiling, so it feels wonderfully surreal to now be acting with people like Kevin Webster that I watched religiously as a kid.”
“I’m staying with my mum and I sleep in my childhood bedroom. It’s been really nice to come home – going back to my roots.”
Jonathan has collaborated with Brad, who co-produced and starred in the 2013 action horror film World War Z, and has since played Charles Dance’s son in the 2019 film Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
Jonathan shared his experiences with big names like Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, and Idris Elba, who played as astrophysicist Ian Boothby in the Marvel superhero film Thor: The Dark World. He claimed that Thor was insane. After finishing drama school, I was barely a year old. Fantastic two days with Anthony Hopkins, which was the best part. We occasionally exchange emails and occasionally email each other.

The actor, who was a native of near Southport, made his TV debut at age 14 with the children’s series Looking After the Penneys, and by the age of 18, he was playing Gavin Moody in Dream Team.
He has appeared in Downton Abbey, Episodes, and Mr. Selfridge, but he primarily works in America, where he and his wife, French actress Elodie Yung, moved ten years ago.
