Contractor Arrested For ₦1bn Fraud In Enugu
A contractor has been detained in Enugu State for allegedly perpetuating a $1.09 billion procurement fraud, according to the Nigeria Police Force.
ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the NPF’s public relations officer, made this known in a statement released on Friday.
Adejobi was responding to published reports that the Enugu State government’s account was hacked, and the sum of N1.09n bn was stolen by hackers.
The NPF made it clear that the money case was not a cyber breach but rather procurement fraud.
The statement, however, added that the money had been recovered from the contractor after an arrest.
Adejobi did not, however, mention the name of the contractor involved in the fraud.

The Enugu State Government’s official account was allegedly hacked, leading to the theft of N1.09 billion, according to the Nigerian Police Force categorically rejects the false information and rumors that are spreading online.
” This assertion is completely unfounded. There has been no hacking of the Enugu State Government’s account, and the allegations of theft amounting to N1.09 billion are entirely baseless.
“The case, which was investigated by the NPF-National Cyber Crime Centre (NCCC), was a case of procurement fraud, not a cyber-breach.
The suspect has been detained in connection with this heist, and the funds have already been recovered.
The Enugu State Government and other government and corporate entities have collaborated with the NCCC to establish comprehensive and secure security measures.
