Thevile abuse her son receives from his father, Wayne, has been exposed by Coleen Rooney.

The businesswoman who only recently appeared on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! has opened up about life in a candid conversation, her first since moving from Australia. But while her young sons, Kai, 14, Klay, 11, Kit, Eight and Cass, six, have the world at their feet, she admits that having a famous footballer as a dad can come with its consequences.

Kai, who has previously been referred to as “something special” for his playing skills, is a member of Manchester United’s Under 16 academy. His dad, Wayne, 39, played for United between 2004 and 2017 in a move that shocked everybody when he left Everton.

Although Wayne was abused while Coleen was a jungler, she has now revealed Kai frequently trolled on the pitch. “A few years ago, I remember my son Kai took a penalty at St George’s Park, where we were for a tournament”, she said. The 38-year-old went on to add: “It went to penalties, Kai stepped up and just skied it. After that, I asked him how he could take a penalty like that, and he responded that the goalkeeper was just fuming and that he was “your dad’s sh*t.”

Coleen told the Stick to Football podcast: “It doesn’t happen to him very often, but it did then, and you can see in some games where they give you a little push. He’s strong-minded though and usually shrugs it off”. In his first full season with the Red Devils, Kai appears to have picked up Wayne’s skills, and despite not yet achieving his impressive stats, he has already scored a whopping 56 goals.

Fans flocked to Kai’s video on social media to express their amazement after being put through his paces during a one-on-one coaching session. One person said, “You can tell he has something special that we need to keep him and develop him.” A second commented: “Promote him to the first team already”. “I’d say he’ll be in the senior squad within 2 to 3 years… hopefully sooner to partner up with Hojlund”, wrote a third.

Coleen also revealed that Wayne was there for her when she was facing the Wagatha Christie trial. Through her detective work, which exposed rival WAG Rebekah Vardy as the author of the Rooney family’s leaked stories to a newspaper, Coleen earned the nickname. Vardy lost the case in court after suing Coleen for libel.

When Coleen recalls the strain it placed on them and their relationship, Coleen said, “I had no control over it, and that was difficult. I was aware that my statement was accurate, but it was difficult for me to deny that it was true when someone else tried to sue me and forced me to prove it. I couldn’t get away from it because it was so long.

” Every day, I’d wake up and think ‘ Coleen, just get on with your day ‘ – but it kept creeping back in all the time. Every Friday, the lawyers call me because I felt like I wasn’t myself and was snappy because the other team is trying to ruin your weekend by calling me at the last minute on Friday.
