Children among dozens killed as Israel pounds Gaza from north to south

Difficulty of Palestinians, including children, have been killed as a result of renewed Israeli bombardments across the Gaza Strip, as a result of the Israeli army’s new wave of forced displacement orders for the besieged area.

At least 62 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza, according to the Ministry of Health in a statement released on Tuesday afternoon. Seven children were among the 23 people killed in the overnight attacks, according to medical sources.

According to Al Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary, who was reporting from Deir el-Balah in the center of Gaza, significant artillery shelling and airstrikes were being carried out in various areas of the Strip.

At least five Palestinians were killed in attacks on two tents in Khan Younis, according to her report. In addition to the eight Palestinians killed in the attack on a residential building in Bureij, central Gaza, more attacks have been reported in northern areas, including Jabalia and Gaza City. At least three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli attack in Beit Lahiya, which included a three-year-old girl.

According to Khoudary, “air strikes have been conducted on civilians’ homes and Palestinians’ places of shelter.”

Hamas called on the international community to rein in Israel, which had a two-month ceasefire with the Palestinian group, in a statement condemning the “horrific massacres” that were announced following the most recent attacks.

According to the Health Ministry, the Israeli army has killed 792 people, including hundreds of children, and injured 1, 663 since it resumed its bombardment of Gaza on March 18.

Tens of thousands of people have also been forced to flee after the ceasefire broke out on January 19 amid a total aid blockade.

The Israeli army issued a warning about new attacks in Jabalia, Beit Lahiya, Beit Hanoon, and Shujayea in Gaza City on Tuesday, according to its most recent wave of forced displacement orders, citing rocket launches launched towards Israel from northern areas. Khan Younis and Rafah in the south also received other orders.

Children are “killed while they sleep.”

Numerous aid organizations and UN agencies have long claimed that Israeli-designated “humanitarian zones” and shelters have repeatedly been attacked by Israelis in Gaza.

Save the Children, a global charity, called the restart of the war “a death sentence” for Gaza’s children on Tuesday.

“Children are sleeping in tents and being killed.” They are being attacked and starved. A definitive ceasefire is the only way to keep children and families safe, it said.

More than 50, 000 people have been killed and 113, 000 have been wounded in Israel’s attacks, according to the Health Ministry, while thousands more are still missing under the rubble of the destroyed buildings and are presumed dead. An estimated 1, 139 people were killed and about 250 were taken hostage in the Israeli conflict after Hamas-led attacks in southern Israel on October 7, 2023.

The renewed offensive, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, aims to compel Hamas to release the remaining 59 prisoners in Gaza. It is thought that 24 of them are still alive.
