After defeating the Buffalo Bills to reach Super Bowl 59, the Kansas City Chiefs are one win away from an unprecedented three-peat in the NFL.

The Chiefs won the Super Bowl for the first time since 1969 with a convincing 32-29 victory over the Bills.

Kansas City has won three of the previous five games to reach the NFL’s championship game for the fifth time in six years.

In a repeat of Super Bowl 57, they will face the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans on February 9.

The Eagles won the conference championship game 55-23 over the Washington Commanders earlier in the day after trailing a slight favorite to win the title.

Josh Allen, who plays quarterback for the Buffalo Bills for the fourth time in five years, is the slight favorite to be named the team’s Most Valuable Player this year.

And again Kansas City counterpart Patrick Mahomes, a two-time season MVP, came out on top in a nail-biting finish to the AFC Championship game.

Visitors Buffalo led 22-21 coming into the fourth quarter, in which the game hinged on two short-yardage plays by the Bills.

They both scored on two excellent touchdown drives and a crucial Chiefs field goal.

There was only one score in it, just like their previous two play-off meetings, and it was Allen’s best chance to topple the Chiefs and bring Buffalo back to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1991-94.

Before the Bills cut the deficit with a field goal, Kansas City running back Kareem Hunt tapped into the end zone from 12 yards to open the scoring at Arrowhead.

Mahomes then fumbled a hand-off for the Chiefs ‘ first turnover since losing 30-21 at Buffalo on 17 November, and the Bills took advantage, with James Cook getting into the corner from six yards.

When Xavier Worthy reached for the pylon after taking an 11-yard pass from Mahomes, who then scrambled into the end zone, the hosts extended their lead.

The Bills responded with a superb catch from Allen’s deep shot for a 34-yard touchdown on the first play of the second half, with Cook showing outstanding athleticism before going back to their run game.

Then, with Allen controversially ruled short of claiming first down on a quarterback sneak, came the crucial fourth-down attempt in the fourth quarter.

Five plays later, Mahomes burrowed over for a 10-yard touchdown, and Allen set up a tense finale by making big plays to Cook and Hollins, before firing a touchdown pass to Curtis Samuel.

On the following drive, Kansas City were held to a field goal by Buffalo’s defense, but they lost the game as a result when Allen was forced to launch a desperate heave, which tight end Dalton Kincaid was unable to hold onto.

Washington, the NFC Conference’s sixth seed, ran a surprise run to the finish line of their first Super Bowl since 1992, but their dream came true because they could not handle Philly’s devastating run game.

Much of the pre-game talk was about whether the Commanders could stop this season’s rushing leader Saquon Barkley, who had 2, 005 rushing yards in the regular season and 324 from Philly’s first two play-off games.

The Eagles ran them ragged after Washington opened the scoring with a field goal, with Barkley and quarterback Jalen Hurts each rushing for three touchdowns.

In the first quarter, Barkley punched in another score after making his team’s first play all the way to the end zone for a 60-yard touchdown.

As the hosts claimed their highest-ever Conference Championships score, the hosts scored the first of four touchdowns following each of Washington’s four turnovers.

After a field goal and a Terry McLaurin touchdown, the Commanders were unable to convert the score to a two-point conversion, and Hurts and AJ Brown added touchdowns to give Philly a 27-15 lead at half-time.

By running for a 10-yard touchdown and turning the two-point conversion, Hurts scored a nine-yard touchdown in the third quarter and Jayden Daniels, who hopes to start as the first rookie quarterback to start a Super Bowl, helped Washington cut the lead to 34-23.
