Cher, 78, announces retirement after 60 year career but will do one major thing first

After a glittering career spanning six decades, Cher has revealed she is ready to retire from the music industry.

The iconic singer, 78, has confirmed her next album is likely to be her last. She claimed that she needed to leave her career behind when she addressed a crowd at the London Lyceum Theatre on Tuesday.

She confessed while on a tour to promote her new memoir. The Believe singer admitted that while she is at peace, she still wants to release her first album since 2013. She admitted the new work has her excited, but is “probably my last album”.

According to the Sun, the hitmaker gushed in excitement about her new “great” songs. But she then joked about her age, adding: “I’m older than dirt now, OK? Except for when I’m in an old people’s home, I’m the oldest person I’ve ever met in almost every room.

She added that she has been encouraging women to “get over” themselves as they age, and that she would like to turn 60 once more. She acknowledged that getting older is not something she’s always liked, and she still prefers to be around younger people. Cher insisted it’s weird as she doesn’t now how to feel any different.

Because many of my friends don’t want to have that much fun, she said, “I like young people.” “They can just go off and be old fogies”.

Cher is currently dating rapper Alexander ‘ AE ‘ Edwards, 38. The pair have made a number of public appearances last year while 40 years their junior. Despite facing some criticism from some corners, Cher brushed off the comments. She said “love doesn’t know math” when quizzed about her toyboy lover. The Oscar-winning actress confessed to the music executive and producer that she was “too old” for him when a mutual friend gave him her number at the time.

“I had been telling all my friends, ‘ We’re too old to go out with really younger men, and I will never fall in love on text. ‘ So I continued to do what I had ordered. she told People, adding that she “was not surprised” about the headlines regarding their romance. “No matter what happens, I love being with him. He makes me laugh, and we have fun. What I learned is that it’s never too late”.

And she continued to insist that the pair are still close by allowing themselves to “live in the moment.” However, A source close to Cher’s son Chaz Bono, 55, has claimed that the award-winning artist is blind to AE’s ‘ true intentions ‘ despite several warning signs.
