Due to the rivalry between the teams, Chelsea midfielder Guro Reiten claims that the women’s Super League encounters with Arsenal “mean something extra.”
Reiten, who is in her sixth season at Chelsea, has so far won the WSL title each year she has been at the club.
With a seven-point lead at the top of the table, Chelsea are again in a strong position going into Sunday’s derby with second-placed Arsenal at Stamford Bridge (12: 30 GMT kick-off).
Reiten thinks that other than the title-winning game, the games have gained more significance.
“They are the best games. To walk out at Stamford Bridge with the fans behind us so loud, it is an amazing feeling”, the 30-year-old told BBC Sport.
“There is extra pressure in those games]and] you never know what to expect. You adore winning them, but you detest losing them. It means something extra for everyone”.
Aggie Beever-Jones, an English international, hopes Chelsea can extend their unbeaten run as they face off in multiple categories.
The Blues have won 10 of their 11 WSL matches so far this season, only dropping points in a 1-1 draw with Leicester before Christmas.
‘ I’m loving things here ‘ – Baltimore
Since switching managers in the summer, Sonia Bompastor, who succeeded Emma Hayes as manager, has led Chelsea to a fantastic start to the season.
Reiten says Bompastor has been “tough” and “demanding” but players know what is expected.
“She has been very clear on what to expect from everyone in their different positions”, said Reiten.
You must be aware of both your role and the roles of those around you. It’s been very clear.
Sonia and Emma “share a desire to win games,” they say.
With Sandy Baltimore joining the squad and making a significant impact, the club strengthened the squad in addition to Bompastor’s arrival.
” I’m loving things here. Football-wise, I knew things would be really intense every weekend, but I’m loving it so far, “Baltimore told BBC Sport.
Given that it was a move from Paris to London and that there was a lot of paperwork to sort out, the initial experience was quite challenging. I’ve started settling in some more now.
“I really enjoy football and the game, so I’d imagine you could say I’ve settled in a few hours.”
‘ I understand what it means ‘ – Slegers

They had some ground to make up for in the WSL title race, but they now sit second in the table thanks to Renee Slegers’ elevation from interim to permanent manager this month.
Slegers questioned how significant a win for Arsenal would be on Sunday, saying, “Yes, of course, and we go for the win.”
“We admire Chelsea for who they are and what they can do,” he said. However, I have a lot of feelings for Arsenal, and I want to do everything for them.
” Of course I understand what]the rivalry] means for fans and for certain players. It’s going to be a game that will be tight.
