Before the Women’s Super League transfer deadline, Chelsea are expected to make a late move for Barcelona midfielder Keira Walsh.

The Blues have had a long-standing interest in the England international, who joined Barcelona from Manchester City in 2022 for a then world record fee of £400, 000.

Barca turned down a bid – reported in the Spanish media to be £930, 000 – from Chelsea’s WSL rivals Arsenal in September.

Walsh’s contract has six months left, according to sources who believe she previously disclosed to the club that she had no intention of renewing it.

During her time in Barcelona, Walsh has won back-to-back league and European titles.

Chelsea broke the women’s transfer record last week by signing USA defender Naomi Girma, but Barca has since expressed an unwillingness to sell her.

The WSL transfer window shuts at 23: 00 GMT on Thursday.
