Marc Guehi’s resignation from Crystal Palace and England’s defender is on the agenda for Chelsea.

Guehi, 24, was reportedly on a list of defensive targets before Chelsea were purchased by current owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital after selling him to Palace for £18 million in 2021.

Chelsea’s representatives are aware of Guehi’s former club’s interest, but Palace have not yet received official correspondence.

Guehi has 18 months left on his contract, having signed a five-year deal when joining Palace.

Chelsea’s wider efforts to sign a central defender in January or the summer transfer window are highlighted by the interest.

Wesley Fofana was recently sidelined for the season by a serious hamstring injury, which may have caused him to miss out.

However, Fofana’s family and friends insist that they anticipate him to start playing again in less time.

Benoit Badiashile won’t be available until at least February.

Prior to moving to Palace, Guehi spent a season and a half on loan at Swansea in the Championship while making just two senior appearances for Chelsea, both of which came in the EFL Cup in 2019.

He has gone on to make 22 appearances for England.

In the summer, Palace rejected four offers from Newcastle for Guehi, with the final offer costing up to £65 million.
