The Bonny Island native had initially set out for 150 hours, but he quickly passed it in a show of strength and discipline.

Holiveah said to Channels Television, “This wasn’t just about breaking a record. It was intended to demonstrate that African women can open doors to others with consistency, creativity, and courage.

The paint-a-thon also provided a vibrant cultural showcase that highlighted Nigeria’s rich history, colors, and narratives.

Hope, resilience, African pride, and the power of young people’s expression were themes in her paintings.

Beyond the art, the event promoted local tourism, established Bonny Island as a potential creative hub, and sparked discussions about youth empowerment and cultural investment.

The record attempt was seen as more than just a personal achievement by supporters.

One of them referred to it as “a movement of hope, art, and African excellence.”

You Can’t Have Security Without Functional Local Governments – Ubani

If the local government administration is lacked the necessary authority to function effectively, according to Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Monday Ubani.

Ubani, a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, argued in favor of establishing state police, a pressing issue in national discourse.

The senior attorney raised the need for a legal framework to stop such misuse in response to concerns that governors might abuse state police.

He said, “People keep talking about rejigging the (security) architecture, allowing state police and everything else. How can we be arguing back and forth about that?” I concur that some governors may experience abuse because they are not mentally stable when given authority, so you must be cautious with that.

We said in the legal framework that we must put it in a way that prevents abuse because of this. The federal police will intervene if abuse is likely to occur. If local government administration is not allowed to function effectively, security can never exist in Nigeria.

Ubani claims that those in power are aware of what needs to be done to end insecurity but have failed to act because they are gaining from the ongoing chaos.

Tell me where you will start hearing about insecurity, and where will it come from, if we properly monitor our local governments.

They are aware of what to do, but they are also benefiting from the lapses and the decay that is occurring, he said, which is why they don’t want to address.

Tinubu Feeding Nigerians With Wrong Economic Statistics, Peter Obi Alleges

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate for president in the 2023 election, accused Bola Tinubu of allegedly presenting untrue data to cover up the economic situation’s reality.

Obi claimed that Tinubu once ridiculed his emphasis on data when discussing governance in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Bola Tinubu, the then APC presidential candidate, insulted the other candidate (Peter Obi), saying, “Na statistics, we go, all I want is put food on the table of Nigerians,” while campaigning in Delta State in November 2022.

“Nigeria is now considered one of the hungriest countries in the world, with millions of Nigerians unsure of where their next meal will come from,” he said after two years of his four-year tenure.

“President Tinubu is now overfeeding Nigerians with incorrect statistics, inaccurate inflation data, and GDP rebasing, all of which put a positive spin on our deteriorating economic and household conditions. Like I have always said, “Governance is not a gamble; it requires sincerity of purpose, character, competence, capacity, and compassion.”

Fayose Backs Tinubu, Ekiti Gov Oyebanji For Second Term

Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, announced on Monday that he supported President Bola Tinubu for a second term.

At an All Progressives Congress event held at the Ado Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado Ekiti, Fayose, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), also endorsed Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy for a second term.

“I want to support our governor, Abayomi Oyebanji, and his deputy for a second term, as well as all well-intentioned Nigerians, especially Ekiti leaders and followers, publicly and without any reservations,” Fayose said.

Fayose said the event had attracted former Ekiti governors, state leaders, and members of the National Assembly, making the remarks that the gathering was unique.

He denied joining the All-Party party and recalled how he won all 16 local government seats to become governor of Ekiti in 2014.

Who will win in all 177 wards of Ekiti and for the first time ever break the record for wins in all 16 local governments there? That is assumed to be true. However, he continued, “We will compete and see each other when we get to the field.”

Fayose also urged everyone to unite in Ekiti to mobilize support for Oyebanji in the upcoming governorship election.

The APC is in opposition to the opposition PDP in terms of welfare, according to the ex-governor, who also made a sharp dig at it.

US To Deny Visas For Birth Tourism

The United States government has declared that it will refuse visa applications to foreigners whose main purpose is to travel to the United States to give birth to their children, a practice known as “birth tourism.”

In a statement released on Monday, the US Mission in Nigeria stated that consular officers have been instructed to reject applications for visas if there is a compelling argument that the main reason for visiting is to give the newborn US citizenship.

It is prohibited to use your visa to travel on American soil with the sole intention of having your child become a citizen of the United States. If they have reason to believe this is your intention, consular officers will reject your application for a visa.

Reconsider Your Strike, Lagos Promises To Address Doctors’ Concerns

The Lagos State Government has made an appeal to the Medical Guild, which represents every medical and dental professional in its employ, to put an end to its warning strike over alleged unilateral salary reductions and other issues.

The leadership of the Medical Guild is currently being looked into, according to a statement from the state ministry of health.

On Monday, July 28, 2025, the Medical Guild had earlier announced the start of a three-day warning strike over salary reductions.

The doctors added that if their demands are not met, an indefinite strike would begin right away and that the Lagos State government would receive a 21-day ultimatum following the strike.

The Lagos State government responded, but the general public was assured that all complaints would be resolved because the medical guild’s meetings were ongoing.

“As a responsible government, we value the crucial role that our healthcare professionals play in providing the over 20 million Lagos State residents with high-quality, timely health care.

We urge the Medical Guild to maintain dialogue while working toward a just and peaceful resolution in the interests of all parties, particularly those who face potential service disruption.

The Medical Guild should reconsider its decision regarding the warning strike and allow the discussions to come to an end that is beneficial, the Lagos State Ministry of Health writes.
