Ogun State Command, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding crucial national assets and infrastructure across the state and nation. It also emphasizes the need for collaboration between other sister security organizations, residents, and communities to accomplish the objectives of securing crucial installations.

The main point of a one-day stakeholders’ meeting, which was held in Abeokuta, the state capital, was the theme “Protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure through Effective Cooperation, Collaboration, and Coordination.”

Top government figures, traditional rulers, security organizations, community development organizations, youth representatives, and other parties took part in the forum.

Remilekun Omalade-Ekundayo, the Ogun State Commandant of NSCDC, made the point that national assets like transportation systems, telecommunication networks, electricity, railroad tracks, airports, forests, transformers, and streetlights must be jointly protected.

She warned that government growth is seriously threatened by deliberate government destruction, whether it be for financial or political reasons.

“Everything the government constructs costs a lot.” We all rely on these facilities, so destroying them is like destroying ourselves, according to Ekundayo, who noted that asset protection should not be seen as the only responsibility of security agencies.

The Commandant urged people to use whistleblowing, community vigilance, and sharing intelligence as effective sabotage strategies.

He urged communities, traditional rulers, youths, and Community Development Associations (CDAs) to collaborate with government and security organizations because security challenges call for more than a kinetic approach.

The call for synergy, grassroots vigilance, and shared ownership of national assets was also echoed by representatives of the Police, Army, DSS, Federal Fire Service, Customs, FRSC, Amotekun, TRACE, So-Safe Corps, Vigilante Group, Amotekun Corps, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Royal Fathers, Community Leaders, and private sector groups.

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) recognized the Ogun State Commandant for her outstanding work in preserving crucial national assets and infrastructure, including successful arrests and prosecutions throughout the state.

General Christopher Musa, the head of the National Defense Staff, has assured Nigerians of the military’s unwavering support for ending banditry in the Northwest.

General Musa made this known to the Kebbi State Commissioner of Information and Culture during a friendly visit.

He stressed the value of working with the media when addressing security issues in a speech delivered by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defense Information.

He stated that the military wants to strengthen its cooperation with the media regarding security issues.

Brigadier General Gusau expressed concern over reports that some communities allegedly support bandits by providing them with food and motorcycles while others are being protected by security forces.

He demanded that community leaders and youth share reliable information with security agencies, particularly those in the North West, to help put an end to insecurity.

The Director of Defense Information urged the general public to support the military’s efforts to advance national security.

Everyone has a role to play in promoting peace and stability, he said.

Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed, the state’s commissioner of information and culture, advised the military to work harder to educate traditional rulers about the dangers of keeping criminals at bay in all of its communities.

He reaffirmed the Kebbi State Government’s ongoing support for security organizations, noting that the state is still one of the Northwest’s most severely affected by insecurity.

Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has approved the Rivers State Pensions Board’s immediate dissolution.

The Office of the Accountant General of Rivers State will now be in charge of the board’s functions, according to the governor’s statement released on Friday by Dr. (Mrs.) Inyingi Brown, the head of service.

The statement further directed the director of administration in the pensions office to turn over all of the board’s assets and properties to the director of administration.

Five alleged bandits have been taken into custody in Kwara State by Nigerian Army troops.

Six AK-47s were discovered with the suspects at a checkpoint along Share town in the state’s Ifelodun Local Government Area on Thursday.

The state governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, the chief press secretary (CPS), made this known on Friday.

He claimed that the suspected bandits’ arrest came a day after six people who appeared to be the kidnappers’ couriers were detained in Babanla town along with a sizable shipment of bread and gasoline in the Ifelodun LGA.

Along the Share axis, five suspected kidnappers were detained today. In a Golf saloon car this afternoon, they concealed six AK-47s under the hood.

The Nigerian Army team was on patrol and intercepted them. According to Ajakaye, the five suspects are being questioned.

Six individuals who are suspected of being the kidnappers’ couriers were detained in Babanla, also in the Ifelodun LGA, the day after their arrests, along with a sizable shipment of bread and gasoline, in the area.

The suspects were charged with being the axis’s kidnapping gang’s couriers.

They were detained on Wednesday while they were hiding during a surveillance operation by government-backed local vigilantes in Babanla.

According to the CPS, “They have been transferred to the police headquarters in Ilorin for further investigation.”

He added that earlier on Tuesday, he reported that many criminals had been reported killed as a result of a coordinated attack by government vigilante forces in Omu Aran-Eruku.

Six motorcycles, numerous assault rifles, and numerous magazines were found hidden in their homes.
