Ringo Starr admits he hasn’t watched the new Beatles Anthology episode

The drummer and Beatles legend is back out on tour with his All Starr Band heading around America

Ringo with his All Starr Band getting ready to hit the road again

Ringo Starr has admitted he has not yet watched the new ninth Beatles anthology programme coming out on Disney+ in November 26 – he’s been too busy making new music.

The Beatles legend, 85, heads out on the road again this week with his All Star Band and speaking from rehearsals, he said: “I think the new version of the anthology that’s coming out is great, but I haven’t seen Episode 9, so I can’t tell you anything about it. It’s gonna be a surprise to me, too.”

Ringo also confirmed rumours he has just finished a new album in the studio, his second country LP in a row and third of his career. He is again working with top producer T Bone Burnett. Look Up was Ringo’s acclaimed Country album with T Bone released in January which garnered him his first UK number 1 and saw him chart in the Top 10 on numerous Billboard Charts.

On the follow up drummer RIngo said: “I loved making the record, and T-Bone is great, and musical, and he just knows his stuff, and it was very easy, you know, he made it easy for me. So I’ve just finished my part in, another country album.

“I love country music, so there’s no problems with it. I’ve written two songs on the next one, and we do a cover of a Carl Perkins song. My first recordings with the Beatles were Carl Perkins songs. I love Carl.

“So anyway, next year, I believe, we’re coming out with, another country album.”

Ringo also has a new art exhibition he will visit in Vegas when he plays at the Venetian this month. It contains giant 8 foot by 10 foot paintings he created by spinning the canvas and throwing paint, a style once adopted by Damien Hirst. Ringo said: “I’ve been doing spin art, because I saw the guys on the computer and there were, like, two kids they had this canvas and then they attach it to a household drill. And it was like, wow! Of course.

“I didn’t go that way. I’ve got a great machine that spins it round. And we started with 10x8s feet.

“Biggies, and yeah, it’s something else I do, you know? I love it, and I do it at home.”

Ringo was speaking from the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee where he has been rehearsing with bandmates Steve Lukather, Colin Hay, Hamish Stuart, Warren Ham, Buck Johnson and Gregg Bissonette. They make up Ringo & His All Starr Band who are now on tour, which kicks off tonight (September 10) at the Chicago Theatre before heading out around America including two residencies in Las Vegas.

Ringo also has the art exhibition at Animazing Art Gallery from September-October 15 in the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian Resort Las Vegas, his first show since 2019.

The Beatles’ landmark ‘Anthology’ TV series and albums from 30 years ago have been restored and remastered and will be available for fans around the world in November – with extra unseen footage.

Disney+ announced The Anthology, originally shown on ITV in 1995 and also released as a three part music collection, will now return in its “ultimate form”.

On screen it will become a nine part series, as well as a four volume music collection, and in print there will be a new book.

The Anthology featured John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr candidly telling their own story, with all its complexities and contradictions with new interviews from three of the fab four, with Lennon having died in 1980.

It traces the legendary journey that began in Liverpool and Hamburg and soon captivated the world. Rare archival footage of their live performances and rehearsals also featured in the series.

And it introduced The Beatles to new generations of viewers and listeners and marked the start of a creative and commercial afterlife that continues to this day.

There is now a completely new Episode Nine, including unseen behind-the-scenes footage of Paul, George and Ringo coming together between 1994 and 1995 to work on “The Anthology” and reflecting on their shared life as The Beatles.

Prince Harry reunion with Charles hots up as King prepares to jet back to London

Both Prince Harry and King Charles are both set to be in London today potentially carving out a window of opportunity for a long-awaited meeting – their first since February 2024

A potential reunion between Prince Harry and his father King Charles is hotting up with both looking set to be in London at the same time today.

Charles was expected to travel back to the capital from Balmoral last night but is now thought to be coming back later today. Harry is set to visit Imperial College London where he will be at the Centre for Blast Injury Studies, which he opened 12 years ago – potentially carving out a window of opportunity for a long-awaited meeting in between this engagement and another this evening.

However, Prince William, who is also estranged from his brother, is almost 150 miles away in Cardiff today to mark World Suicide Prevention Day, meaning he will not likely cross paths with Harry or Charles.

The King and his youngest son have not seen each other in almost 20 months since Harry dashed to the UK to see his dad after he revealed his cancer diagnosis in February 2024.

It is understood both sides would like a meeting to happen, with a source close to the Duke of Sussex saying: “As Harry has stated before, he’d love to see his family and be reconciled.”

However, both Buckingham Palace and Harry’s office have refused to comment on whether a meeting between the two men is scheduled.

Harry previously said he would love to heal wounds with his family but admitted that “some members of my family will never forgive me” after he wrote his controversial memoir, Spare.

He told the BBC in May that Charles had not been speaking to him due to his court battle over his security, which he lost, and that he does not know “how much longer my father has”.

The Duke has reportedly not been offered a place to stay at a royal residence and is staying at a hotel at his own expense during his trip to the UK.

Harry candidly admitted that some of his relatives might never forgive him after railing against them in his and Meghan’s infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey as well as in their controversial Netflix series and his bombshell memoir, Spare.

He said: “Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things.” He added: “But you know, I would love reconciliation with my family,” and said there was “no point in continuing to fight anymore”.

Meanwhile, senior aides to the King and Harry were pictured together in London this July in what was was understood to have been an initial step towards opening channels of communication between the two sides.

Harry is expected to be in the UK until tomorrow before leaving the country. Yesterday, on the second day of his visit, he hailed his £1.1 million personal donation to support young people affected by youth violence as an “investment in futures” and urged others to step up.

He had been highlighting the issue of knife crime in Nottingham and revealed his love of “banging” jerk chicken. The Duke announced his gift to BBC Children in Need, which has come from his own money rather than his Archewell Foundation, during a visit to the Community Recording Studio (CRS) in Nottingham.

He told invited guests in a speech: “This isn’t just charity, it’s an investment.” The prince added: “An investment in futures, in hope, in keeping young people safe. But I know my contribution alone is not enough. Real change requires all of us: government, police, schools, charities, and importantly, businesses, stepping up and working together.”

A spokesman for the Duke confirmed the donation was from Harry personally, rather than his Archewell charity. A large proportion is expected to go to the CRS with the rest distributed to other local causes that support young people affected by violence.

Oprah Winfrey, 71, shows off three-stone weight loss after candid Ozempic admission

Talk show icon, Oprah Winfrey, looks almost unrecognisable in her latest social media snap in which she shows off the results of her three stone weight loss

Oprah Winfrey looks incredible in her latest social media post in which she shows off her new figure after admitting to using medication to help her lose weight.

The talk show icon, 71, said she used the GLP-1 agonist drug – whose brand names include Ozempic and which are designed to treat diabetes, but which are now being used for weight loss – in 2023.

Saying she initially thought the drug, which is used by a whole host of famous faces, would be an “easy way out”, Oprah then claimed it was a “relief” to find a “medically approved prescription for losing weight and staying healthier.”

Taking to Instagram this week, there’s no denying she looks good as she beams from ear to ear, standing in her enormous garden, sporting an elegant cerise silk blouse and black leather trousers, with her hair and makeup done to perfection.

However, holding a copy of Elizabeth Gilbert’s memoir, All the Way to the River, which she promotes in the caption, the actress disabled the comments, meaning no-one could respond to her glamorous snap.

Oprah was heavily criticised after previously slamming those using GLP-1 drugs, type-2 diabetes medication that also helps weight loss.

She once referred to the doctor-prescribed medication as an “easy way out” and denied using the drug to lose weight following years of yo-yo dieting.

However, in December 2023, the Colour Purple star who had been surrounded by rumours she was using drugs such as Ozempic for years, finally admitted the truth, after revealing she was ‘done with the shaming’.

She told People: “I now use it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing.”

Oprah added: “The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for.

“I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself,” she continued before adding she had recommended the drug to other people before deciding to take it herself.

The self-made billionaire said on an episode of The Oprah Podcast that she took a ‘GLP-1,’ formally known as a GLP-1 agonist, which works by mimicking the hormone GLP-1, which the body releases after eating, helping people feel full and slowing stomach emptying.

Oprah first confirmed that she was taking the drug two years ago, but did not confirm which medication she was taking. Many have speculated it’s Ozempic, a brand name GLP-1 agonist that’s been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat Type 2 diabetes – and of which weight loss is a famous side effect.

Lucinda confirmed that she and the 21 Reasons DJ were no longer together during an appearance on the White Fox After Hours podcast, where she said: “So I am recently single. You’ve actually just got to laugh or you will literally cry.”

Speaking highly of Nathan and their short relationship, the blonde beauty added: “But to be honest, my ex boyfriend is like one of the best people ever, he is so lovely and so kind. A real gent. I feel like we will always be friends. He’s a bit older as well. I feel like it’s just way more mature, which I love.”

Lucinda has appeared on Love Island UK season 7 and Love Island Australia season 5 and is now hoping her third time is a charm as she enters the games.

Peacock’s hit show Love Island Games is back for season 2 on September 16, and the cast includes familiar faces from across the US and UK.

The spin-off series brings together Islanders from different countries to compete in challenges while pursuing love, with $100,000 (£73,894) up for grabs. Hosted by Ariana Madix, the show will once again feature eliminations, re-couplings, and surprise arrivals.

Fellow Love Island star Maura Higgins will also be making an appearance on the show after the Irish presenter, 34, has officially been confirmed as the host of the newly commissioned Aftersun series for The Love Island Games.

Having already impressed as the face of Aftersun for Love Island USA last year, Maura has firmly established herself as a fan favourite with the US audience. According to reports, the former Love Island UK star will soon be jetting off to Fiji, where Love Island Games will begin filming.

A TV insider explained: “The first series of Love Island Games didn’t include an Aftersun show, as it was filmed in advance and broadcast later. But this time, it’s going out in real time like the main show.

“That’s why bosses have decided to create a dedicated Aftersun, and Maura was the obvious choice to host it.”

The source added to The Sun: “Maura was thrilled to be asked to do it, as Games is a totally separate show so there was no guarantee she would be offered it. When bosses approached her, she was over the moon because it proved how happy they are with her, and she is seen as a key fixture in the Love Island USA family.”

Olivia Colman reveals which jobs she hates doing – ‘I’m terrible!’

Ahead of her new film, The Roses, Oscar-winner Olivia Colman revealed which type of job she wished she didn’t have to do

Whether you think of The Crown’s Queen Elizabeth II, her Oscar-winning turn as Queen Anne in The Favourite or the dastardly Mrs Scrubitt in Wonka, when someone says “Olivia Colman”, great acting comes to mind. But the film star has recently revealed there is one type of acting job that she thinks she’s “terrible” at and hates doing.

Ahead of her new film The Roses, Olivia joined her co-star Benedict Cumberbatch, and hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett on Dish, Waitrose & Partner’s podcast. On the show, she the topic turned to jobs the episodes guests had hated, as Benedict and Angela both revealed there were times when they worked in kitchens and “wished a fire alarm would go off” so they didn’t have to go back in.

Olivia added: “I’m like that with most theatre.”

When Benedict then asked which jobs she thought that about specifically, she said: “Oh, most plays. I’m terrible!

“I have a quite a short attention span, so doing months of the same words, I struggle with. I’m scared for a long time, and then once, once the fear finishes, I’m so bored. Which is awful.”

She also recalled a time when a fire alarm really did go off and the joy she felt before they told her should would actually have to return to the stage: “And we did one play when the alarm went off, you know, like, yes! And I was out my costume in seconds. ‘Surely we can’t go back?’ Yeah!

“But they got us all back on stage. Like, argh. Put my costume back on.”

Olivia hasn’t done many plays. Whilst the actress has countless TV and film credits, she has only been in four plays. In 2000, she played Cathleen in Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night, and didn’t return to the stage until nine years later when she was Philippa in England People Very Nice by Richard Bean. Shortly after that, she was Myra Arundel in Hay Fever and, lastly, in 2017, she was Jenny in Mosquitoes. She has not been in a play since.

Her most recent project, The Roses, is a satirical black comedy loosely based on the 1981 film, The War of the Roses. It follows the breakdown of the marriage between Ivy (Olivia Colman), a chef who has put her business plans on hold to raise children, and Theo (Benedict Cumberbatch), a successful architect, after a freak accident swaps their roles and Ivy becomes the successful one, whilst Theo becomes a stay-at-home dad.

Olivia will also appear in a new TV adaptation of Pride & Prejudice where she will play Mrs Bennet. The show has already made history by casting The Crown co-star Emma Corrin as Lizzie, making them the first non-binary actor to play the iconic character. Adapted by Dolly Alderton for Netflix, the series has also cast Jack Lowden as Mr Darcy.

On Dish, both Olivia and Benedict agreed that television was one of their favourite mediums to work with. As the latter said, TV provides a “water cooler moment” and that people are more likely to watch your work if it’s on TV.

“Good, bad or indifferent, people are gonna watch it.”

Have Your Say: Should the BBC drop Thomas Skinner from Strictly?

Former Apprentice star Thomas Skinner caused chaos at the Strictly press launch after snatching a reporter’s phone and storming off. BBC bosses have since decided the Essex pillow king can keep dancing – but what do you think?

Thomas Skinner threw a huff at the launch of Strictly – before he’s even made it onto the screen(Image: PA)

Former Apprentice star Thomas Skinner found himself in hot water this week after snatching a reporter’s phone and walking out of interviews ahead of the new Strictly Come Dancing series.

The pillow salesman’s future on the show was looking precarious, but this morning the BBC confirmed he’s going nowhere. And we want to know if you think he should be booted off for his behaviour – by taking our poll below.

Organisers were said to be fuming about it all, with the corporation even issuing a statement reminding everyone that behaviour falling below its standards won’t be tolerated.

The Essex boy, famous for his fiery social media presence, grabbed a reporter’s phone mid-interview and told them to stop – leaving his fellow contestant, ex-footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, to carry on the press duties solo.

Skinner was heard saying: “What’s that? Are you taping it?” The reporter answered: “We have to record it,” before she was heard asking: “What are you doing?”

A voice was heard: “Just answer the question, we’ve got three minutes,” before the reporter said: “No, no, no, don’t.”

Thomas then told them: “That’s about me,” before the reporter answered: “No, it’s not.” When one person asked ‘what made them run the question’, the reporter said they were ‘just recording it’.

After a few moments of inaudible audio, someone else said: “Oh my God, he’s gone.”

Speaking about the bizarre incident, an insider told the Mirror: “He walked to the table with his head down, he sat down, grabbed one of the reporters phones, who told him to stop. It was a shock. His reaction came out of nowhere.”

Another source told us: “It was totally out of the blue. He was absolutely fine during the first interview. In good spirits and delighted and surprised to be there. Like a competition winner.”
