Legend Steve McQueen’s family in incredible legal fight over long-lost £51million Jackson Pollock painting

More than 60 years later, The Mirror tells the incredible story of how a deal made by Hollywood legend Steve McQueen in the 1960s involving a multi-million-pound painting, a motorcycle, a puppy, and a Malibu house turned out to be true.

Steve McQueen’s family are in a legal fight over what they claim is the actor’s Jackson Pollock painting (Image: Getty Images)

It was just another painting on the family home’s wall for lawyer Brent Borchert as he grew up in the 1960s. In fact, he wasn’t all that fond of the distinctive piece of art that had been painted on a canvas. Brent laughs, “I wasn’t the biggest fan, but I didn’t actively dislike it.”

It is obviously immediately recognized as the legendary Jackson Pollock’s creation, and it is estimated to be worth more than £51 million. After his parents, Pamela and Rudolph, passed away, Brent was left with the painting and the remainder of their Malibu, California art collection.

But his enjoyment of the Pollock piece has been shattered after suddenly finding himself at the centre of an extraordinary legal wrangle involving legendary Hollywood star Steve McQueen’s estate. The icon’s granddaughter, Molly McQueen, claims the late actor was the painting’s legal owner all along.

The parents of Brent allegedly brokered a swap agreement between a motorbike and a Californian home, according to a lawsuit brought by Molly’s attorney in Los Angeles. It claims that “Steve McQueen” exchanged a Jackson Pollock drip painting for a motorcycle and property at Latigo Canyon with Rudolph and Pamela Borchert.” The motorcycle was never changed owners because of one of the Borcherts who accidentally crashed it.

The Borcherts, according to the lawsuit, “made a demand for the return of the Pollock painting within a reasonable time thereafter” before going on to file for bankruptcy. According to the description, Molly has “immediate access to the painting.”

When the litigation began, 58-year-old Brent described the specific details as “ringing a vague bell” and as he described them as shocked but intrigued. He continues, “I don’t know if I was even born when the deal happened, and neither my father nor I ever discussed it.” However, I once questioned my mother, “What’s up with the Jackson Pollock painting?” She continued, “Your father made some sort of deal.” I missed out on it. Although it was a quick conversion, I do recall that she might have mentioned something about the house and a motorcycle. Everything is very hazy.

While Brent admits his recollection is poor given the passage of time, he does remember his dad being friends with Steve. Known as the King of Cool thanks to his rebellious and rugged persona, he starred in a string of hit films including The Magnificent Seven and Bullitt.

He was reportedly exposed to asbestos while serving in the US Marines when he passed away in 1980 at the age of 50 from mesothelioma. They were undoubtedly friends and would have dinner, and even though they weren’t friends, they frequently socialized,” says Brent.

They bonded particularly over their mutual love of motorbikes. Steve famously rode a Triumph TR6 Trophy in 1963’s The Great Escape and was a racing aficionado, competing in the British Touring Car Championship and the Elsinore Grand Prix.

According to Brent, “Motorbikes were a big deal in our family, and dad used to ride them all over the mountains,” he says. He would have taken a bike to Malibu Beach, where McQueen and I are a close second, “for the first time.”

Intriguingly, Brent is adamant that his father did once hit his motorcycle, and he is certain that it was the same accident that the lawsuit described. He claims that “I know dad had a cool motorcycle that was a little difficult to get your hands on and that he crashed.” He “fell a lot of stress and ended up in the emergency room.” Mom was also riding her bike.

All motorbike talk was prohibited in the house from that day forward. However, he secretly purchased one and kept it a secret in a deserted parking lot. He says, “I had to conceal the motorcycles up the street.”

Scarlet, 12, and Sabrina, 9, are two daughters of his late wife Misti, and Brent now resides in South Carolina with his fiancée Samantha and their two daughters. His sister Bettina owns the painting with him in part. And he claims to be interested in talking with the estate and actor Molly.

He claims, “I’m not looking for a fight.” I’ll reach an agreement if they’re willing to be reasonable and can point me in the direction of something that makes me believe something wrong happened. But I won’t if they can’t.

Pollock, who passed away in 1956 at the age of 44, was a significant figure in the movement known for his drip-style abstractions. To date, his most expensive painting is Number 17A, 1948, which sold for £146m in 2015. The disputed painting, which the McQueen estate claims is worth £51 million, could fetch much more if it were to be sold at auction.

According to Brent, “Growing up it was just another painting on the wall, and Jackson Pollock wasn’t as well-known as he is now. We never considered selling the painting. Never did we experience financial crisis. In retrospect, I should have gotten all the facts, but I was a child and it was their stuff, not mine.

It’s funny because, according to my parents’ wall, it’s not even the focal point of the room because it’s surrounded by many people who are presumably liked more. “Molly McQueen’s lawyer was contacted for comment,” the source said.

Our Yorkshire Farm’s Amanda Owen issues shock relationship update

Amada Owen, who wed her 2022 husband Clive Owen at Our Yorkshire Farm, delivers a bombshell about her current thoughts on finding love once more.

Amanda says her priority is her nine children, and the farm animals(Image: REACH PLC / Lorna Roach)

More than 20 years after meeting for the first time at Ravenseat Farm in Yorkshire, Amanda and Clive Owen shocked the nation when they announced their split three years ago. Around 3 million viewers tuned in to watch them tend their land and their nine children at the peak of the popular television series Our Yorkshire Farm, which had already become a household name.

However, their marriage and reality television relationship ended in 2022 when the couple promised to “continue to work on the farm and co-parent]their nine children together.” Amanda shared her thoughts on finding love again and how they are adjusting to life apart in a brand-new exclusive photo shoot with OK!

Amanda asserted that they could still have their own space despite the fact that they still technically reside there. “I’m surrounded by people, and one of them is Clive, but sometimes it feels like I’m not. I remember this morning when I wondered, “Why are your socks on the floor?”

She continued, “We probably would have killed each other with real clashes of character and all the rest if we were all under one roof in a tiny space.” Although our “home” is quite large, there are many fields between us, though. There is plenty of room for error because it takes a whole day to walk the farm’s perimeter.

Back in 2022, the couple said in a joint statement that their top priority remained “the happiness and well-being of our children.”

However, Clive, 69, later admitted to being blaming himself for the breakup, telling The Sun that she was “constantly raged.” Looking back, he said, “Looking back, I can see now that Amanda needed someone to talk to and trust, and at that point, I wasn’t that person.”

Since their split, Amanda, 51, and Clive have both been dating, with Robert Davies, a long-time friend of theirs, who they briefly dated. She later revealed that the relationship had ended in large part due to her personal life’s interest, which caused them both to become “shattered.”

Amanda told OK despite her current single status. She and Clive’s nine children, Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clemmy, and Nancy, are still either permanently resident of Ravenseat or are frequently visiting.

She also stated that she would happily remain single at the age of 51 if she could find a new love. Relationally, it would take a particular person to be able to handle the circumstance. And I still consider my ex-colleague Clive to be very important. It would also require a sense of humor!

I don’t really lack love, in fact. There is plenty to get on with if it occurs, great, but not if it doesn’t, isn’t there?

Home And Away’s Ailsa Stewart now after surprise career change and ‘thrilling’ TV deal

Since leaving the soap 25 years ago, the actress who starred in the iconic Home and Away couple has forge a highly successful career away from television.

The tragic tragic incident in which her character had a heart attack

An on-screen wife of one of the most iconic Home and Away characters, Alf Stewart, leads a very different life these days after leaving the world of acting behind.

Judy Nunn played Ailsa Stewart, the partner of diner owner Alf (Ray Meagher). She first appeared in the pilot of the long running soap way back in 1988 and continued to feature in the Channel 5 show until 2000, when she was killed off.

The 80-year-old has successfully pursued a successful career in a completely different field since leaving the show, which she first began working on on the Australian series’ set.

After his first wife, Martha passed away, Judy first appeared on our Summer Bay televisions as dating Alf. Although Ailsa was the store’s owner, she is infamous for killing her abusive father.

After Martha drowned in a boating accident there, Alf decided to sell the Summer Bay caravan park. Ruth, Alf’s daughter, detested his and Ailsa’s union, who was deeply unapproving of her father’s new partner.

A well-known character, Judy and her on-screen husband Alf were

Both women were involved in a lot of other dramatic plots, including the appearance of long-lost children, the destruction of their home by a mudslide, and the burning of their diner, which was typical for a soap opera.

However, Ailsa’s most notable moment was when she died unexpectedly in 2000 from a heart attack, leaving her distraught husband and son. When Alf, who was going through a breakdown after his beloved passed away in his arms, began having visions of his deceased wife in 2003, she briefly appeared as a ghost. He later discovered that he had a brain tumor.

While she wasn’t a part of any major storylines, Judy decided to pursue a passion she had always enjoyed on the Home and Away set full-time. She has since developed a successful career from her hobby, which she used to write books. She explained to The Morning Show exactly why she became interested in side hussle acting.

When, for instance, we’re burying someone or getting married to someone [on Home and Away], you’ve got to smile and nod a lot, and at the funeral you’ve got to cry a lot, she said. “Practically, you’re an extra,” she said. “Sitting around was very boring, so I decided to write a book.”

Her first children’s book, The Riddle of the Trumpalar, was published in 1981, before she joined the C5 soap. From 1964 she was a leading stage actress before landing her breakthrough TV role in controversial Australian soap The Box as bisexual reporter Vicki Stafford. Judy, who is married to former Hong Kong police inspector and fellow actor and writer Bruce Venables, also appeared in Prisoner and as Dr. Irene Fisher in television serial Sons and Daughters .

She chose to continue writing novels after writing the scripts for the popular Aussie soap Neighbours and Possession. She wrote three more popular books throughout the 1980s and the early 1990s after her first children’s adventure. She began writing adult fiction in 1991, and she continued to do so with over 20 books with Australian themes, many of which have become bestsellers. In 2024, the most recent book, Stories from the Otto Bin Empire, was released.

Her entire collection has sold more than three million copies worldwide and her next book Pilbara, is due on October 28, accompanied by a tour of Australia. She currently lives in a beautiful house which overlooks the stunning Brisbane Water on the New South Wales Central Coast and is looking forward to one of her novels being turned into a series.

E4 revealed the 18 people who are attempting to wed a total stranger in an effort to find true love earlier this month.

Fans have been counting down the days for the return of Married At First Sight UK after a dramatic series last year, which saw risky pranks at the altar, tears and mismatches. The experts have promised the 10th series will be the ‘most memorable yet’ with ‘a lot of firsts’ for the E4 programme.

Earlier this month, E4 revealed the 18 people who are stepping out of their comfort zones to tie the knot with a complete stranger in hopes of finding true love. The new series has gone international, with groom Davide, 33, hailing from Portugal and bride Julia-Ruth, who is a professional dancer, coming all the way from New Zealand in the pursuit of love.

Additionally, there are Aberdeen contestants Sarah, Sarah, a recruitment consultant, and Edinburgh-based Paul, who is retired and looking for the one.

A few of the stars shared their hopes and worries before the cameras begin to show their whirlwind romances.

Speaking about marrying a stranger, Rebecca, 32, said to the Mirror: “If I think about it too much, I panic. I keep thinking to myself, he feels the same as I do right now. He must be nervous and wondering what I am like. I’m so excited to take part in this with him.

She has her ” fingers crossed” that the experts will match her with someone she’ll get along with, but she reveals she’ll be turned off if they’re emotionally unavailable.

Paul from MAFS UK

She’s enthusiastic about the experiment, but she acknowledges importance of first impressions, saying, “I’m sure I’ll judge him on his height!” Since I’m quite tall, it’s important that he also be. I simply need to feel the instant attraction for him as I approach him.

Sarah, 31, has been single for a while and wants to meet the “man of her dreams” because she had “terrible taste in men in the past.”

The contestant, who stated, “I’m putting everything in this,” has many concerns about the experiment. She insisted she’ll be open-minded because “I’ve been matched with him for a reason,” after revealing she doesn’t like anyone over the age of 18 who uses Snapchat or anyone with a negative attitude.

When Sarah was questioned about letting a total stranger live with, she responded, “I’m looking forward to that. I’m so excited for this because it’s going to be a lot and intense! We’ll have fun regardless because I’m a good host to live with.

Retired Paul doesn’t have many “red flags” to watch out for in relationships. He only asks that the individual be genuine. When asked if he believed in trusting the experts, the 60-year-old said, “No! Should I have faith in them?

The actress is concerned about what his girlfriend’s reaction will be to him as they approach. He acknowledged that he was concerned about what other people thought of me. You can build on that, but I’m concerned about how they’ll perceive me.

Paul hopes to emerge from the experiment as a “better human being,” despite being a little “nervous and cautious.”

Married at First Sight on E4 can be viewed or streamed starting at 9 p.m. on Sunday, September 21.
