Sam Burgess, the team’s head coach, has been granted a visa to enter the United States, and will join the Warrington Wolves on Wednesday.

As he waited clearance to enter the country on Sunday before his team’s Super League game against Wigan Warriors, Burgess did not fly.

The 36-year-old reportedly visited the US embassy in London to get his application approved in time for Saturday’s game at Allegiant Stadium in order to avoid issues with visa applications.

Assistant coach Martin Gleeson told BBC Radio Merseyside: “It’s a huge bonus. He is on his way right now, and he’ll arrive late this evening despite earlier earlier in the week’s uncertainty.

He said, “We don’t have a training day today, but he will be back for the planning of our next session when we connect with Penrith, and everything will go as usual.”

“It’s great news for Sam, the club and the event over here”.

Gleeson said the uncertainty surrounding Burgess’ ability to join the squad had not had an impact on their preparations.

The incident was beyond our control, and the young men simply continued doing their jobs. It is what it is and we have that mentality”, Gleeson added.
