Brookes wins slopestyle bronze at X Games
Mia Brookes, a British snowboarder, had to settle for bronze in the Aspen, Colorado, slopestyle contest.
The 18-year-old won gold 12 months ago, but Zoi Sadowski-Synnott of New Zealand’s Zoi Sadowski-Synnott finished in the lead.
Sadowski-Synnott, 23, took gold with a score of 94.66 in her first run in the final, which included a stunning triple cork.
“To win this competition, I cannot believe it. We had epic conditions and I’m stoked to win gold”, said Sadowski-Synnott.
Brookes ‘ first-run score of 88.33 had looked enough for a silver medal, but Japan’s Kokomo Murase, 20, nipped in ahead of her after posting 90.33 on her second run.
