Brooke Shields was in shock after doctor carried out intimate operation without her consent
She has argued that she is opposed to suing a doctor who performed an excruciating medical procedure on her without her consent.
The 59-year-old American actress revealed that a doctor had performed cosmetic surgery on her vaginal area while she was unconscious for another procedure without consulting her or asking for her consent. In her biographical new book, Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman, the actress admitted that she made the shocking admission.
Brooke is proud mother to daughters Rowan, 21, and Grier, 18, who she shares with film director husband Chris Henchy, 60 – who she has been married to since 2001. The actress mentioned that she gave birth to both of her children via caesarean section despite the fact that a doctor assumed that she had given birth naturally.
The A Castle for Christmas star revealed that she had visited a gynecologist who had recommended to her to have her labia surgically removed in a brutally honest chapter of her book. She consented to having her body removed, but when she woke up to find out that the doctor had decided to do other things to her while she was unconscious, she was horrified.
She recalled the doctor’s statement, “I tightened you up a little bit!” Gave you a little rejuvenation”! and explained that he had reduced her labia’s size and tightened her vagina. She recalled: “I was shocked… There was a real ‘ I threw this in for free, little lady ‘ vibe to his delivery” – and also explained that far from improving her body, it was “not good”.
Brooke continued, stating that the doctor’s continued indolence made it impossible for her to file a lawsuit. In an extract shared by People, she wrote: “I was horrified, but also at a loss. I didn’t want to sue this man — or maybe I did want to, but I didn’t feel I could — because I didn’t particularly want talk of my lady parts, once again, on the front page of every paper. Without my consent, this man surgically altered my body. And he believed that by introducing a “bonus procedure,” he had done me a favor. I was raged by it simply because of how gall it was.
And she added: “I never took action against this doctor. I never even spoke to him again about it because, in part, I was beginning to doubt myself and wonder if he was correct that I should feel fortunate. Or maybe, I thought, this was a needed improvement for my man, who was secretly dissatisfied but would have never dared address the subject of my” loose down-theres? “It’s crazy that these thoughts even came to mind,” she said. Even more outrageous is that I didn’t even talk about it with my husband until later. He was nearly as enraged as I was when I eventually told him, but I can’t recall why.
The Suddenly Susan alum previously spoke about her past experiences, including the incident that led to a Hollywood executive sexually assaulting her during a supposed role-playing meeting in her 2023 Pretty Baby documentary. She claimed in the movie that she chose not to report the assault, saying, “There was no way that I would have been able to feel heard or that it wouldn’t destroy me.”
She added: “I was at a tenuous place in my career, people weren’t getting cast at my age. I couldn’t afford to jeopardize that. So I embarked on my own journey to understand it, which has taken me so long.
