Britons Cash and Glasspool through in men’s doubles

By defeating Lucas Miedler and Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico, British duo Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool have advanced to the third round of the Australian Open men’s doubles.

The 11th seeds won 6-4 4-6 6-4 inside one hour and 49 minutes, becoming the only Britons to win on day seven in Melbourne.

Tenth seeds Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski fell to a 6-2 6-4 defeat by Sweden’s Andre Goransson and Dutchman Sem Verbeek, while fellow Briton Luke Johnson also exited the competition.

Johnson, alongside the Netherlands ‘ Sander Arends, lost 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (9-7) to French 16th seeds Fabien Reboul and Sadio Doumbia.

Elsewhere, Britain’s Harriet Dart and France’s Diane Parry were defeated 6-0 6-3 by fifth seeds Chan Hao-ching of Chinese Taipei and Ukraine’s Lyudmyla Kichenok in the women’s doubles.
