At the weekend Vanity Fair Oscars party, a Blake Lively co-star had to evade an awkward interview.

When asked how he had been “supporting” Blake during the legal battle, Brandon Sklenar, who played Lively and Justin Baldoni in the film It Ends With Us, responded. He made an attempt to avoid the subject, though, calling the ordeal “tough” and “tough.”

The film’s director, Sklenar, then managed to survive the situation by focusing on the audience’s need for a larger message and how it can affect them. He began to tell the reporter, “It’s a tough situation.”

He added, “I just hope everyone remembers what the movie is about and why we made it in the first place.” It’s all about supporting women in general and supporting people through difficult times. And that movie has benefited a lot of people, and I just want them to remember what the story is about and why we created it. And to somewhat maintain that. That underlying ethos.

It Ends With Us (CTMG, Inc. All Rights Reserved) stars Blake Lively as Lily Bloom and Brandon Sklenar as Atlas Corrigan.

Sklenar has previously been asked to respond to questions about the ongoing legal dispute following Lively, 37, filed a complaint alleging sexual harassment on the set of their film by Baldoni, 41, and the alleged smear campaign that ensued.

Baldoni has continued to vigorously refute all claims and file a counterclaim in court. Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, have been charged with civil extortion, defamation, and invasion of privacy by Baldoni, who has counter-sued for $400,000.

Since Lively first filed the case, Skelnar, who played Lively’s love interest in the hit movie, has had his or her questions. When asked who team he was on during a recent interview with Gayle King, he responded with a neutral statement. He introduced the 70-year-old presenter to the audience, “I’m Team It Ends With Us.”

He once more maintained that the movie’s message was the most crucial factor to consider. According to him, “I have someone very close to me who has been helping [Lively’s character] navigate that space for a long time and has been on the front lines helping her navigate that space.” “One of the reasons that I did that movie gave her the courage to change her life” she said.
