Big Brother star Tilly Whitfield shares candid images of her damaged skin as she reveals she was hospitalised and suffered vision loss after an at-home acupuncture procedure went wrong
Big Brother star Tilly Whitfield has candidly revealed the full extent of her injuries, after an at-home acupuncture treatment on her face went wrong.
The 21-year-old reality vixen shared a lengthy Instagram post on Friday, explaining that she was hospitalised and even temporarily lost vision in one eye as she tried to remove the scarring on her face from the acupuncture.
Tilly originally saw the acupuncture treatment on TikTok and warned fans to leave any procedures to the professionals.
She said she was opening up about the incident after Big Brother fans kept asking why she keeps wearing a blue clay face mask on the show.
‘This is what my face looked like a week prior to entering the house hence why I always have makeup on and my skin is always covered,’ she said.
‘This is the result of attempting to remove scarring I inflicted on myself trying to replicate an at-home beauty procedure I was on a TikTok video two months before Big Brother.’
‘Please, please don’t try and DIY or at-home beauty procedures, I ended up in hospital with temporary loss of vision in my eye due to swelling and was very sick from the infection, not to mention my face was somewhat unrecognisable.’
She added that she suffered from ‘deep below surface level scarring and dark pigmentation.’
On the show last month, Tilly confessed to co-star Melissa McGorman that she scarred her face after trying to self-administer acupuncture.
While removing her makeup, Tilly said: ‘I acupunctured my face recently and I’ve got scars all over.’
‘Do you do it often and does it hurt?’ Melissa asked.
‘No I shouldn’t have done it. I copied a TikTok video and my whole face is scarred,’ Tilly responded.
Tilly entered the house a single woman, leaving her family and pet Chihuahua Tinkerbell at her Northern Beaches home.
She has already been nicknamed Skye Wheatley 2.0 and is taking her new nickname as a compliment.
