Season three of The Traitors is now well underway, with all the drama, tension and, of course, scheming that fans just can’t get enough of.

And it wouldn’t be Traitors season without viewers developing their own intriguing theories as the contestants plot and manipulate their way to the enviable £100,000 prize fund. A show you can count on to have plenty of wily tricks up its sleeve has seen a lot of wild speculation this year, particularly in particular.

Here, the Mirror examines five of the most compelling current theories, including one concerning the return of a much-missed fan favourite… what do you think? Let us know in the comments.

Lisa and Alex

Viewers think they’re seeing a “grandmother and grandson” super team (PA) in person.
Alex,Series 3 contestant.
The pair’s secret Instagram account (BBC/Studio Lambert) has caused eyebrows.

Sisters Armani and Maia, who viewed their familial bond as too similar to one another, made the decision to be honest with the rest of the group right away. Many were shocked by their sincerity, especially given how fiercely Dianne and Ross had defended their mother-son relationship in season two.

But what if there are other family pairings in the mix who haven’t been quite as forthcoming? Some people believe Anglican priest Lisa and care manager Alex may be related, with the idea of a “grandmother and grandson” super team being proposed, and the possibility has certainly sparked viewers’ imaginations.

Now, 62-year-old Lisa hails from Cornwall, while 29-year-old Alex is from Whitby – but this distance hasn’t put eagle-eyed fans picking up on a few tell-tale clues that could point to a connection. Intriguingly, Reddit users have noted Alex and Lisa both have private Instagram profiles, suggesting they could well be hiding something. Amateur spies discovered that Lisa had changed her public address after a second look, and that the number of followers had significantly decreased from 110 to 84. This has, of course, only added fuel to the gossip mill.

According to one armchair detective, “I did believe that their facial structures were very similar.” Not sure if it’ll end up being the case, but it would be a good twist”. Another remarked: “Yes, I was thinking of grandmother and grandson, they look very alike and act how a grandson and grandmother would act”.

Charlotte and Alexander

Alexander and Charlotte
A ‘weird’ scene between Charlotte and Alexander has left viewers confused (BBC)

Diplomat Alexander, who was initially hampered by the brutal train cull, is now back in style and prepared to use his negotiation abilities to benefit the roundtable. But could he already have had a more diplomatic relationship with a fellow devoted person?

Although he and Charlotte claim to be total strangers, perceptive Redditors have discovered an unusual familiarity between them, which leads some to speculate that they could be a couple traveling alone. One user muddled over a “weird scene” where the pair had a conversation in the hall after Wednesday’s tense show, which saw a caged Alexander being lowered from a treetop prison.

They pondered: “It struck me as odd because – from an editor’s perspective – there was no new information in that scene that we (as viewers) didn’t already know. Alexander simply repeated the same adage, “There are only three people on his carriage who are still in the game,” in his own words.

Every scene that makes it to the final edit is there for a reason, according to the director of a show like this, where literally hundreds of interactions and conversations occur daily. There was no justification for that scene, which was only intended to depict an interaction between two potential partners who might later be revealed to be in a relationship, so something about it irritated me.

This same knowledgeable person also picked up on Alexander’s insightful comment during the challenging situation. They continued:” When Charlotte gave Alexander a coin, he said, ‘ I don’t even know you, but thank you’, which was a bit weird. “

Could this entertaining side plot have diverted our attention from a bigger secret because Charlotte’s bizarre attempt to pretend to be Welsh had been so focused on it to make herself seem more trustworthy?

Dan and Joe

However, their very different accents would need a lot of explaining (BBC / Studio Lambert)

Fans have noticed numerous striking similarities between the physical appearance and mannerisms of 37-year-old English teacher Joe and 33-year-old bank risk manager Dan. Their sibling-esque bickering at the roundtable—which saw Dan roll his eyes wearily—has done nothing to dispel whispers.

Of course, their very different accents suggest this likely isn’t the case. While Dan is a Liverpudlian, Joe is originally from Yorkshire and now lives in Southampton. Although certainly an interesting theory, this is more likely the start of a beautiful, albeit competitive, friendship for these two squabbling faithfuls.

Freddie and Francesca

Francesca and Freddie
After a heartfelt roundtable disagreement (BBC), Francesca was present to comfort Freddie.

After the drama at the round table escalated, politics student Freddie was left in tears in dramatic scenes that were broadcast on January 8. Thankfully, interior designer Francesca, 44, was on hand to offer some comfort to the 20-year-old, with the pair sharing a hug as she reminded him:” It’s just a game.

Addressing the sweet interaction in the confessional room afterwards, Freddie shared:” She’s like my mum in here. “Many viewers have taken this literally, putting their bets on Francesca and Freddie as the new Dianne and Ross,” said one viewer.

Fans also appreciated Francesca’s genuine emotion when they rejected Freddie, just like they did Freddie. Meanwhile, others noticed that she made sure to vote off Maia when the 25-year-old full-time mum suspected Freddie, in what appeared to be a protective act.

However, Francesca has previously revealed that she’s a proud mum of four boys, while Freddie is an only child, extinguishing this interesting theory. Could this be, as some have theorised, an auntie-nephew? Or does Francesca simply adopt the role of Mama Bear as she prepares to play the younger contestant?

Jack’s return

Jack, Alexander and Fozia.,Studio Lambert,Euan Cherry
Some think that Jack, a fan favorite (BBC/Studio Lambert), could have rejoined the group in disguise.

From his first, very brief, appearance, landscape gardener and market trader was a favourite among Traitors fans, who were saddened to see him leave the train in the very first episode. The 34-year-old East Yorkshire lad appeared in a treetop cage alongside his fellow banished contestants Alexander and Fozia, which was initially a huge success.

Ultimately, the group chose Alexander and Fozia and left Jack swinging alone – despite his memorable battle cry of:” I’m 6″5, I’m a big lad”!. Some devoted Jack fans haven’t given up on him yet, believing he could “participate in the show as a mysterious outsider and reappear at some point,” though all hope appeared to have run out.

In last night’s challenge, which saw the competitors take on a challenging balloon challenge, one Reddit user speculated that Jack might have been posing as the killer clown. This analytical person remarked in a thorough Reddit post that Jack “was neither banished nor murdered” while “you have to be banished or murdered to leave the game.”

They considered: “Other variations of this game usually include some of the faithful having a superpower. You can block one murder, or something similar, where you can inquire about a contestant’s traitor status every few days.

According to my current theory, Jack will spend a few days as a secret contestant, perhaps watching the contestants during missions, before being given a one-time use superpower to use to return to the game. like “choose a player to banish” or “choose a player to murder to enlist in the Traitor.” Or ‘ guess one of the Traitors, and you can return as a Traitor’. “

However, any such theories could just be wishful thinking because Jack has already appeared on Uncloaked, and it seems like his Traitors journey is over before he even ventures inside the castle.
