BBC presenter welcomes ‘Christmas miracle’ baby after 10 failed rounds of IVF

After a number of unsuccessful IVF cycles, ABC presenter and Sky News assistant editor Emily Deeker gave birth to a “Christmas miracle” child.

Emily and Will Glennon had a long fertility journey, which spanned over 12 years. They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Olivia, three years ago. The couple’s penultimate frozen embryo gave them a chance to have a second child when their daughter was born.

And in October, their miracle baby, Harry, was born in October. We have another embryo left in the Bristol clinic, so let’s try it, Emily said. “When our daughter turned two, we said to each other. However, we absolutely didn’t anticipate that due to the number of treatments needed to get our little girl, it would end in a successful pregnancy and bring the baby.

We would have been grateful to have had our beautiful Olivia after such a long wait because that 12th and final frozen embryo had not matured to become Harry, but since I was already 42, time was running out. Speaking of Harry’s birth, she said it felt like it was ‘ meant to be’.

She also expressed gratitude to the doctors at Bristol Centre for Reproductive Medicine (BCRM) for their “dedication and expertise.” Their daughter, Olivia, is ‘ besotted ‘ with her new baby brother and keeps telling her parents that Harry is “my best friend”.

After a number of unsuccessful IVF treatments, Emily, who started receiving fertility treatment in Bristol at the age of 30, admitted that she started to lose hope. You initially believe that IVF will be the answer to your prayers, but she said, “Once you start, you realize that it doesn’t work for everyone.”

We “taught ourselves to manage our expectations and not to get our hopes up,” we learned along the way, and we’ve since developed that skill. For the entire 12 years we tried to raise a family, but we eventually learned to “take everything for granted.”

After receiving numerous years of treatment, Olivia and Harry were shocked when they became pregnant. She said, “All of our dreams came true when we discovered it had worked again and that we were going to have a little boy.”

Emily continued, “It is lovely to be the mother of a little boy and a little girl] and it just feels like it was all worth it. All the pain and perseverance over the years paid off, and we are overjoyed.” Our daughter no longer wants to leave our son alone, but she does.
