Bayern Goalie Neuer Suffers Setback In Injury Recovery

Manuel Neuer, the German team’s goalie and captain, returned from a calf injury to a setback, according to a statement released on Saturday.
Since early March when Bayern’s Champions League last-16 first-leg win over Bayer Leverkusen tore a calf muscle, Neuer has been out.
The 38-year-old had recently resumed ball training, but this weekend the muscle was injured.

Bayern claimed Neuer had “a reaction in the calf muscle” and would need to miss training “in the coming days.”
Neuer was a doubt for the Champions League quarter-final match against Inter Milan, according to the German paper Bild, who reported on Saturday that he would miss Bayern’s upcoming Bundesliga games against St Pauli and Augsburg.
In April, Bayern will host Borussia Dortmund, the Italian champions, both at home and away.
After suffering a foot injury, Neuer’s backup, 21-year-old Jonas Urbig, did not participate in Germany’s U21s during the international break.
Additionally, the Bavarian giants have options for Sven Ulreich and Daniel Peretz, both of whom are national goalkeepers for Israel.
With eight league games to go this season, Bayern are six points clear of Leverkusen.
