Bandits Kill Six Community Guards In Zamfara
Four local vigilantes and six Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (CPG) members reportedly died in an ambush by bandits in the Anka Local Government Area on Saturday.
The operatives were returning from a successful joint operation led by the Nigerian Army that led to the killing of a number of bandits, according to sources.
However, some resolute bandits attacked them as they made their way back, causing the tragic loss of ten lives.
Dauda Lawal, the governor of Zamfara State, confirmed the ambush’s security operatives’ deaths.
The governor claimed that the victims were a part of a team that had conducted an operation in Anka alongside military personnel before being attacked around the Bagega axis in a statement written in Hausa on his verified Facebook page.
In addition, Governor Lawal revealed that four local vigilantes, all known as “Yan Sakai,” and six members of the Community Protection Guards (CPGs) perished in the ambush.

“I learned that gunmen had ambushed some Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (CPG) in Anka Local Government. He stated that the incident took place yesterday when security forces and the State Community Protection Guards (CPG) led by the Nigerian Army attacked the bandits’ hideouts and successfully neutralized several bandits and recovered their weapons.
The information that was made available to me on Sunday morning, when the bandits attacked them at Bagega and opened fire on them, killing six CPG members and four Yansakai, led to their burial.
There are three missing people, two of whom are CPG members and one Yansakai. I instructed the injured people to receive immediate medical care while the families of those who lost their lives were given immediate materials when I learned about the incident.
“I prayed that I would accept the souls of those who made the supreme sacrifice to defend their communities. May God comfort their families. I prayed for God to put an end to Nigeria’s security issues in Zamfara State, North Africa, and allies.
