Bandits Kidnap 16 In Fresh Attack On Kebbi Village, Nine Still Held Hostage

In a recent attack on Bena village and nearby Kebbi State’s Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, bandits reportedly kidnapped at least 16 people.

Lawali Umar, the secretary of the security committee in Wasagu, confirmed the incident by stating that the bandits had ambushed and held hostage female workers at their guinea corn farms.

Umar said that in a separate recent attack, bandits raided Tudun Wada area, abducting six people.

Responding, army personnel engaged the bandits in a gunfight, successfully repelling the attack and rescuing the six abducted individuals.

Around nine of the 16 who were originally kidnapped are still being held, with the bandits demanding an undisclosed ransom.

In Yar Maitaba, Mai Rai Rai, and Tungar Sabo, which he described as well-known for the bandits, Umar pleaded with the Kebbi State Government to increase security.

“We commend the state government’s efforts against banditry, but with the guinea corn harvest season upon us, our farmers need better security”, he urged.
