Avalanche traps 42 workers under snow near India-Tibet border

A avalanche near Tibet’s border has left more than 40 construction workers trapped beneath the snow.
The avalanche occurred at a camp near Mana in Uttarakhand, a mountain village, on Friday due to blizzard-like conditions.
57 workers were initially stranded as they cleared the camp of snow. 42 are still missing, according to Ridhim Agarwal, a representative from the state’s disaster relief organization. Fifteen of them were saved, according to Ridhim Agarwal.
According to Indian media reports, disaster response teams have been attempting to reach the camp’s workers who have been stranded since Thursday evening due to an avalanche warning.
The state’s top police officer, Deepam Seth, claimed that the treacherous weather is preventing their efforts.
“It has been sleeting with strong winds.” The roads are completely blocked. He told NDTV, an Indian broadcaster, “We have deployed snow cutters to open the road.”
The Central Command of the Indian army stated that “additional troops and equipment are being staged forward.”
