Army Mourns As Former COAS Chris Alli Dies

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, expressed his condolences in a statement.

The Nigerian Army (NA) has expressed its sincere condolences for the passing of former COAS Major General Mohammed Chris Alli (Rtd), according to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.

“The former Army Chief passed away at the Military Hospital in Lagos on Sunday, November 19, 2023, in the early hours.”

Major General Alli’s unwavering dedication and zeal for duty, which were evident in his ascent to important positions within the Nigerian Army, were emphasized in the statement. His distinguished military career came to a close in November 1993 when he was named the 9th Chief of Army Staff. He served in that capacity until his August 1994 retirement.

General Chris Alli, who was born on December 25, 1944, in Koton Karfe, Kogi State, joined the Emergency Short Service Combatant Course on October 20, 1967, according to the statement.
