Aregbesola’s Group Quits APC, Party Reacts

Rauf Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State, led the political group Omoluabi Progressives, which made the announcement over the weekend. &nbsp,

The group noted that its decision to quit the APC was a result of ostracisation, suspension, and expulsion of its leaders without a fair hearing from the party.

The party’s continued discrediting of the party structure and mismanagement of the intra-party crisis, which caused the party’s devastating defeat in the previous election cycle, have eroded its strength and popularity in Osun.

The Organising and Publicity Secretary, Omoluabi Progressives, Oluwaseun Abosede announced this in a statement, and added that the decision to quit APC was the consensus of the stakeholders in the group.

The group’s monthly meeting, held on Sunday in Ilesa, approved an earlier resolution of members from the 332 wards across Osun State, according to her.

The members’ pledged to change allegiance to another political camp before the state’s governorship election in 2026, according to Abosede’s statement in parts, which was read as a voice vote.

The statement however quoted the immediate past Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola to have commended them for their commitment and steadfastness to the principles of character, integrity, and good governance.

“I’m really happy that you all have a voice,” I say. To ensure our collective victory in the coming journey requires more than just one voice.

“I want to let you know that the goal of the project that we are currently taking is to raise our beloved state’s prosperity even more.

” The path we have toed is smooth, highly reassuring, and full of good tides that will propel our dear state to greatness. You must therefore show more commitment and entice genuine individuals who are willing to follow our path of righteousness.

“We are open to all, regardless of political, religious, or socio-cultural leanings. We have the numbers, strength, and political acumen to provide leadership that will make Osun the toast of its peers. By the grace of God, we shall succeed.

Aregbesola stated that the time was right for the members to work diligently to secure the success of the Omoluabi Progressives and its goal of establishing good governance in Osun while making comments about the APC’s resolution to leave.

He added that he was confident that the leadership’s ongoing efforts to properly position it for the task ahead would soon be realized.

The All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Osun State chapter responded to the development by saying it is not alarmed by the announcement that the party’s mainstream party, which it has been in since 2022, is being led by self-styled Omoluabi Progressives, to leave the state.

In a statement, Chief Kola Olabisi, the Osun APC spokesperson, stated that “the absurd announcement of the so-called Omoluabi Progressives to leave the APC is a good riddance to bad rubbish.

The dissidents group’s statement reads, “In the first instance, the kernel of the statement consisted of a confused pack of rudderless political vagabonds who were approbating and reprobating at the same time as a sizable number of them have been removed from the party or have been suspended from it.”

How would a rational person who has been suspended or expelled make his resignation once more public? Is that not an example of superfluity?

Before the state’s 2022 governorship election, “we, the Osun State APC, shall be happy to miss the political irritants and deviants who have since left the party by body and soul.”

You can’t be working against the interests of the same party while proclaiming your membership in our party.

You still serve the state’s ruling party and are Osun State’s agents.

In retrospect, we can infer that Isau’s voice is recognizable to Jacob while the hand is supposedly that of Jacob. The political renegades’ antics will have us covered.

The ambulatory Omoluabi Progressives, who have no respect for the elders and their political benefactors, claim that they are more progressive in Nigeria than the real progressives party’s founders.

We are not bothered by the actions of the disgruntled and retired politicians who have since left the party about three years ago despite their best efforts to destabilize and take control of it.

The upcoming beginning of your political funeral, which will be remembered in your final grave through the 2026 governorship election, is the most recent announcement that you have formed or have joined another party.

” More importantly, the blindfolded followers of the ill-fated Omoluabi Progressives will regret being part of this shenanigan.
