Alleged Cybercrime: Arraigned Foreigners, Others Plead Not Guilty

The Federal Government has arraigned 109 suspects predominantly of Chinese, Indonesian, Thailand and Malaysian origin and their Nigerian collaborators for their alleged involvement in high-level cybercrimes, hacking, and activities that threaten national security.

All the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges before Justice Ekerete Akpan of the Federal High Court, Abuja, who had just been charged with six counts.

In a coordinated raid on a building in the Next Cash and Carry area of Jahi, Abuja, the suspects were reportedly using sophisticated tools and computers to facilitate criminal activity. The operation was carried out by the Nigeria Police Force.
