Alec Baldwin was suicidal after Rust shooting and ‘has survivor’s guilt’, wife Hilaria says

According to claims made by his wife, Hilaria, actor Alec Baldwin had been considering suicide following the Rust shooting.

The actor was charged with a criminal offense related to the shooting of Rust’s set. When Alec used a prop gun on the set of his 2021 shooting spree, he accidentally fatally shot director Joel Souza and cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, causing her death. The incident occurred at a New Mexico ranch during a rehearsal.

Involuntary manslaughter was committed in 2022 by Alec, who was charged with causing someone’s death by careless deed. However, after new evidence emerged in 2023, the charges were dropped. In March 2023, he and the Rust producers reached a settlement with the family, agreeing to pay a financial price, despite the fact that Alec was still facing a civil lawsuit from the Hutchins’ family.

Alec was criticized for not checking the gun before using it because it was crucial to film sets safety. He claimed that he did not pull the trigger and that the gun accidentally went off, and that there was no intentional wrongdoing.

After the Rust incident, Hilaria has now revealed that she received “heart wrenching” text messages from her husband. The Baldwins, their new reality series, offers viewers a look into their home and parenting experiences with their seven children. This insight was recently provided by them.

When Hilaria revealed the text to her friend, she said, “I found these text messages the other day, between us, you know, the day after. He claimed to want to commit suicide, you may be aware. He admitted guilt as a survivor to the cameras. You are a part of something that no one could possibly imagine happening. And so it continues as it did at the time. He wishes it had been him. In a second, he would move around. His mental and physical health have been greatly impacted by this.

He suddenly began having heart problems over the past few years. He has had numerous hospital stays. Everyone is screaming, I’m going, I’m in charge, and I’m shaking him, but he’s fainting. Sometimes it’s difficult. But hey, we’re in the toughest, but most difficult part of it.

The Baldwins were created as Alec prepared for his involuntary manslaughter trial for the accidental shooting of Halyna on set four years prior, charges that were eventually dropped, according to the Irish Star.

The couple reveal how much of a life it has taken for their lives in the second episode of the show while making plans for his upcoming court appearance. Alec openly described the difficulties he encountered, revealing tumultuous times marked by a refusal to even leave his bed.

He said, “I’ve been lying in bed for a while and I don’t want to get out of bed.” My kids are downstairs having breakfast, I imagine. He claims that his wife helped him through these difficult times, and that they may have noticed that I was really down last year. My wife, however, rose up and saved me. That’s the difference; there were times when she didn’t want to either, but she did.
