Alan Carr reveals chaotic night involving food poisoning and Adele’s dog
Presenter Alan Carr recalls eating a “s***” on Adele’s dog after attending a party.
Alan, 48, has teased that he was “nearly killed” by Paloma Faith, 43, after she served a lamb dish at his home once. He said that Adele, 36, and her dachshund Louie, 17, were also in attendance for the meal, which was “quite a while ago”.
He and Paloma were guests on the first episode of her Mad, Sad and Bad podcast, which was released on Tuesday, and he discussed the incident. The podcast’s Instagram account shared a clip with the caption “I gave @chattyman @adele and her dog food poisoning and will never live it down” in a clip.
At one point towards the end of the episode, Alan teased to the podcast host: “You keep mentioning food poisoning. Will you tell us when you nearly killed me? […] And you nearly killed Adele’s dog”. “I know we make a joke of it, but I did feel bad about that for a long time,” said Paloma.
Alan went on to share: “Adele, her dog Louie and Paloma came round. Now, it was quite a while ago but I remember you saying ‘ I’ll cook. I’ll cook us something lovely”. Then it was revealed that lamb was the dish she chose. Paloma said: “It was the lamb that gave everyone food poisoning. Because I trust my gut, which said it was the lamb. […] After we’d eaten it, I knew”.
Her guest Alan continued: “So we’re sitting there and the first time my stomach’s going ‘ ohhhh’. And then Adele’s dog Louie’s a sausage dog so then the dog had a bit of the lamb. And then I’ve never seen s*** come out so quick. It was a pfft. Like a brown skiddy. And that rug cost a lot.
Adele encouraged him to get some kitchen rolls, he joked that it wasn’t to clean up the mess, the comedian claimed on the podcast. He said: “Adele goes ‘ no, no, no. Get some kitchen roll. Get some kitchen roll'”.
Alan continued: “So I run downstairs. I bring the kitchen roll over. Adele rips the leftovers from the kitchen. I believe she will pick up the dog s***, but she accidentally rolled it up and put it on her nose as a result. Paloma teased: “We’re all so self-centred”.
The NHS states that food poisoning, “caused by eating something that has been contaminated with germs”, is “rarely serious” and “usually gets better within a week”. Symptoms can include nausea, diarrhoea and stomach cramps. It adds: “The most important thing is to have lots of fluids, such as water or squash, to avoid dehydration”.
