Al Jazeera journalist Hossam Shabat killed in Israeli attack in Gaza

Two journalists and an Al Jazeera journalist have been killed in separate Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Hossam Shabat, a journalist for the Al Jazeera Mubasher channel, was killed on Monday in northern Gaza. Witnesses claimed that Beit Lahiya’s eastern region was where his car was targeted.

Mohammad Mansour, a journalist for Palestine Today, was killed by the Israeli army in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, earlier.

According to Tareq Abu Azzoum, a reporter for Al Jazeera from Deir Al Balah in central Gaza, it has been “another bloody day” there.

Without any prior notice, he claimed that Israel targeted Mansour at his home in Khan Younis with his wife and son.

He cited the Israeli attack that claimed the life of Shabat as “Hossam, a 23-year-old Palestinian journalist,” saying that despite having previously been injured in an Israeli attack, he insisted on continuing to report on Gaza. …without any prior notice, the Israeli military had already targeted his car.

Since October 2023, the Government Media Office in Gaza has reported that at least 208 journalists have died as a result of Israeli attacks.

The Israeli occupation of Palestine, according to the Government Media Office in Gaza, “strongly condemns the targeting, killing, and assassination of Palestinian journalists.”

We call on all journalistic organizations around the world to condemn these systematic crimes committed against Palestinian journalists and media professionals in Gaza. We do this through the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and other organizations. The US government, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France are all held accountable for this heinous crime, according to a statement from the media office.

According to medical sources, the death toll from Israeli airstrikes in the besieged Gaza Strip has increased to 51 as of Monday.

As attacks continue in the north and south of the Palestinian enclave, the death toll is likely to rise.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 50, 082 Palestinians have been confirmed dead and 113, 408 have been injured in Israel’s war against Gaza.
