After years of estrangement, ex-Osun Gov. Aregbesola’s group finally exits APC, says I’m indeed happy

A political party led by an ex-Osun governor is at the center of the political crisis that is sweeping the Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) to its head. Rauf Aregbesola, the Omoluabi Progressives, has quit the party.

The decision to quit APC was the consensus of the stakeholders in the group, according to statement signed by the Organising and Publicity Secretary, Omoluabi Progressives, Oluwaseun Abosede.

Abosede claimed that the group’s decision came after the group’s monthly meeting on Sunday in Ilesa saw the ratification of a previous resolution by members from the state’s 332 wards.

A statement by Abosede said: “Some of the reasons adduced for the resolution include ostracisation from the party, suspension and expulsion of the tendency’s leaders without fair hearing, and continuous denigration of the structure, among others.

They also expressed dissatisfaction with how the Osun APC handled its intraparty crisis, which caused the party to suffer a terrible loss in the previous election cycle, and why their support has diminished.

The members’ pledged to allegiance to another political camp before the state’s governorship election in 2026 was cast in a voice vote by the fold’s leadership.

Aregbesola, while addressing the meeting, praised their commitment and steadfastness to the principles of character, integrity and good governance.

The former minister of interior noted that the time was right for the members to work diligently to secure the success of Omoluabi Progressives and its goal of establishing good governance in Osun upon the APC’s resolution to leave.

He added that he was confident that the leadership’s ongoing efforts to properly position it for the task ahead would soon be realized.

Aregbesola declared, “I’m indeed happy that you all have sounded one voice.” To ensure our collective victory in the coming journey requires more than just one voice.

I want to let you know that the goal of the project that we are currently working on is to raise our dear state’s prosperity even more through responsible leadership. Our dear state will rise to greatness thanks to a smooth path that is both comforting and full of good vibes.

You must therefore show more commitment and entice genuine individuals who are willing to follow our path of righteousness.

” We are open to all, regardless of political, religious, or socio-cultural leanings. We have the numbers, strength, and political acumen to provide leadership that will make Osun the toast of its peers. By the grace of God, we shall succeed. “

Persecondnews recalls the 2022 governorship election in Osun State, where ex-Gov. Due to the APC’s internal divisions prior to the election, Adegboyega Oyetola of the APC lost his re-election bid to PDP Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Aregbesola, an erstwhile die-hard loyalist of Tinubu for decades, did not support Oyetola, who had the backing of President Bola Tinubu.
