Irv Gotti, the founder of Murder Inc. Records, died yesterday and to his loved ones shock, 50 Cent made sure he had the last word on the long-time feud.
Not one to miss an opportunity to be publicly petty, 50 Cent took to Instagram to troll the producer’s early death. Suffering a stroke, the record producer died at 54 years old. The rapper responded to the death via a photo of him smoking from a shisha pipe next to a model model tombstone and framed “50 Cent” American Football jersey.
50 Cent, who was infamous for repressing the celebrity conflict, captioned the post, “I’m smoking on dat Gotti pack,” while also making light fun of his idol’s death by saying, “nah God bless him LOL.”
If that wasn’t enough, 50 added a second image of the Gotti from the City of Hope 2023 Spirit of Life Gala to show who he was speaking. Leaving no room for doubt, the club hit singer was met with a slew of comments. Video creator Nino Brown wrote: “IRV tried to k! ll him but 50 outlived him! God is undefeated”. However, musician Hitta Slim wrote described 50 as “a real life Villain from the Movies” and said he’d “never seen him give a pass…” referring to Cent’s inability to let bygones be bygones.
Jamie Fox posted his condolences, saying: “Wow. Rest in power my brother. You have shared a lot of love and wisdom with everyone you met, and your legacy and music will never be forgotten. Rest up”!
Others rushed to the ‘ In Da Club ‘ rapper, one fan reminding viewers that “]Gotti] wanted 50 dead at one point… don’t tell that man how to feel”, recalling the rapper’s terrible injury where he was shot nine times. Irv Gotti, formerly Irving, apparently celebrated 50’s close-death at the time of the shooting.

Suffering what seems to be a series of strokes across the last year, 50 poked fun at Gotti after his second in August, 2024, saying: “Damn I wanted him to see my new shows yo”!. Now a TV executive, 50 shared this whilst claiming Gotti was on life support and preparing for goodbyes.
Irv’s passing was first reported by All Hip Hop, allegedly causing a brain bleed. Lyor Cohen of Def Jam has grieved by praising Gotti’s impact on the label. Cohen described the death as the “most creative soldier who was hip-hop,” citing Gotti’s ability to “brough the heat and save our a****” in a time of need.
It’s a privilege and honor to have known him because he comes from a very close, beautiful family in Queens. Irv, you will be missed”.

Before launching the music production company, Gotti recruited stars JAY-Z, DMX and Ja Rule for the Def Jam label, later making Rule the lead sound of Murder Inc. Gotti produced Hov’s ‘ Can I Get A…’, Foxy Brown’s ‘ Hot Spot’, Rule’s ‘ Holla Holla’, ‘ Put It On Me ‘ and ‘ Livin ‘ It Up’, and Ashanti’s ‘ Foolish’, ‘ Happy ‘ and ‘ Baby’.
50 and Julie Walters were on The Graham Norton Show in 2015, where he shared a story about one of the nine shots that fell on him and landed on his tongue. Born as Curtis Jackson, 50 was shot by nine mm handgun whilst entering a friend’s car. The rapper’s famously slurred voice is caused by that particular bullet’s effect.
Passionate about cultural news, the rapper-turned-exec has promised fans to produce a documentary on Luigi Mangione, the USA healthcare CEO killer.
