39 Constitutional Amendment Bills Scale Second Reading In Reps

The House of Representatives has now started second reading for 39 constitutional amendment bills.

The bills addressed a range of industries, including the legislature, judicial reforms, electoral security and policing, inclusive governance, and other areas.

Among the suggestions are:

A bill to amend the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution to allow for the establishment of local government police and state police

A bill to amend the provisions of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution (as amended) to make it clear that the Independent National Electoral Commission will decide when the general elections for the president, governors, state legislatures, state houses of assemblies, and local government area councils will take place on the same day.
